Weight: 80.9 kg. I don’t think I’ve weighed so little in years. If everything goes well, I’ll move from “overweight” to “normal”, in terms of BMI, in less than a week. Of course, that doesn’t mean the work is done… it is never done. But it’s a start. Will my Mii in Wii Fit change his appearance?
Exercise: the usual; that is, sit-ups, Wii Fit jogging, and I also tried one yoga exercise there. I really think I should do more of them when I have the time, as I don’t have the agility and “stretchability” I should have.
Breakfast: one scrambled egg with cheese. Tasted great, and I’m not feeling too “bloated” anymore.
Incidentally, 2 days ago, in the evening, I thought about an interesting post I wanted to write here (to prevent the blog from being just “I did this; I ate that”), about relationships, I believe, but I completely forgot what it was going to be about, specifically… even though I spent a lot of time yesterday, in the afternoon, trying to remember. Oh, well, I expect it’ll come back to me eventually.
One other thing: unlike, say, the rest of the week, today I expect to socialize, which may mean a setback in my diet (I may even drink alcohol, since I won’t be doing it alone), but, of course, it’s worth it (in fact, it’s one of the other problems I wanted to solve with this blog). That may also mean no “daily progress” post this evening. We’ll see.

Dear Pedro,
When one starts on a diet, it rapidly loses a few kg. Those are from the water in excess present in the cells (most, in the muscle cells).
It’s a quick process (typically 2 to 3 weeks). The problem is after that
Not to demoralize you, just to bring your attention.

Mário,
thanks for the tip. I don’t expect “true” health and athleticism to be easy; it’s a long-term goal. Losing these few kg should, as I said, move me from “overweight” to “normal” in terms of BMI, but I have a long road ahead…
Pedro,
There’s only one way to lose weight: to consume more calories than the ones we ingest.
There’s no way around it.
To worsen things, the human metabolism can convert/produce everything from/into everything (except for vitamins that have to be ingested).
That’s why exercise is the keyword here, because it consumes calories. And if you’re on a low diet, the ones you ingest aren’t enough for your body needs. This said, the metabolism has to pick them up (mainly) from the fatty acids to produce ATP – our cells’ fuel
.
Meanwhile, drinking more water than usual, is a must be in order to maintain the electrolytic balance between the cells nucleus and the outside. This is especially important if we think of blood pressure (but not limited to), since the Na+ and K+ ions can easily lose electrolytic balance in relation to water, thus increasing blood pressure.
PS. Many people forget (or don’t know for starters) the *real* meaning of the word calorie: it is a unit that measures energy. Any energy.
Kind Regards,
MárioG
